Enjoy the beaches of WildernessIf you're looking for leisure activities with a difference, nothing beats the Garden Route, from whale and dolphin watching to oyster tasting, scenic flights along our magnificent coastline, boat trips and steam train rides on the Outeniqua Choo-Tjoe.

Surfers and swimmers enjoy the waves at Victoria Bay, Buffels Bay as well as off the beach directly in front of the house where dolphins often join in the fun. The house is situated on the beach adjacent to the Touw River mouth and lifeguards are stationed there during peak holiday season (approximately 50m from the house).

Whale spotting from July to October each yearWhale season is from July to the end of October and the house provides an excellent vantage point from which to view view mothers with their newborn calves. The weather during this time is mild to warm.

Those who lead a more athletic lifestyle can enjoy the endless hiking and biking trails as well as canoeing on the Touw River and great fishing and golfing opportunities. World-class golf courses such as Fancourt, Sparrebosch and Goose Valley are just a short drive from Wilderness.

For adventurous holiday makers, the Garden Route offers exciting attractions such as bungy jumping, hang gliding, abseiling, kayaking, paragliding, microlighting and many more exhilarating activities. Our Tourism Offices located in Leila's Lane in the village can provide details and booking information.
