Wilderness Village, a 5 minute drive (20 minute walk) from the house, offers all the amenities you might need for a comfortable stay … convenience stores, markets, galleries, doctors and a pharmacy, petrol station, and many restaurants appealing to every taste and budget.

Wilderness Beach

The main attraction in Wilderness is the beautiful, unspoilt 6km long beach, but the area offers many other activities … horse riding, paragliding, canoeing on the Touw River, hiking, bird watching, whale and dolphin watching, fishing, mountain biking, kite surfing, and more!​

MONSTER SCOOTERS - KNYSNA

A Unique Way to Experience the Knysna Forest.

A unique and true forest experience. Enjoy an exhilarating downhill on the Monster Mountain Scooter, descent through indigenous forest, sweepy bends and single track.  A scenic minibus ride  takes you into the heart of the forest to the best hills to start your descent in the Garden Route National Park.  All of this while on the  lookout for the our local wild life, the majestic Knysna loerie, the shy bushbuck and  wild boar.

Scooters are non motorized making this eco friendly. These Swiss designed scooters are used in the Alps during the summer season on the ski slopes when the snow is gone. All trips are guided by professional qualified guides. All scooters can handle one adult with a child passenger.

KNYSNA LAGOON - OYSTER TOUR

Our coastal town of Knysna and Oysters go together like champagne and caviar, sea and sky, summer breezes and cold beers … if you’re more than a little intrigued by oysters, then join us for the ultimate oyster experience on the spectacular Knysna Lagoon. Learn all there is to know about one of the world’s most loved delicacy, taste the difference between wild and cultivated oysters, all whilst cruising the lagoon to the Heads and surrounds. Ask questions, take photos, excite your taste buds – all on board our “Oyster Boat” with a small group of guests.

The cruise includes complimentary local white wine and oysters for tasting. Extra oysters are available on pre-order to enjoy on the boat.

Cruises depart daily from our Activity Desk at Sirocco Restaurant, Thesen Island Harbour Town, Long Street, Knysna. Please remember your camera, sunblock, sunhat and wind breaker (just in case!) And remember – our boat is perfect for families and children of all ages are welcome.

Garden Route Paragliding
Garden Route Paragliding offers scenic Tandem Paragliding and Hang Gliding flights from various sites along the Garden Route coast including Wilderness, Sedgefield, Brenton-on-Sea and Buffalo Bay.
Fishing On Wilderness Beach
There are fishing spots all along the beach.
Garden Route Mall, George
The city of George is a 10 minute drive from the house and has much to offer … supermarkets and shops in the Garden Route Mall and in the CBD, a cinema, wine estates and golf courses, nightclubs and restaurants, yet more beaches in the outlying suburbs. Victoria Bay is world renowned for exceptional surfing.  George International Airport is a 20 minute drive from the house.
Plettenberg Bay

Plettenberg Bay, close to the eastern border of the Garden Route, is the playground of the rich, with fabulous shops, beaches and restaurants.

Knysna
Knysna is reputed to be the most beautiful town in South Africa. Head here for world-class restaurants and golf estates, nightlife, festivals, and of course plenty of leisure and outdoor adventures.​
Garden Route
The Garden Route, high on the must-see lists of most visitors to South Africa, stretches along the southern coast of South Africa. Here, ancient forests, rivers, wetlands, dunes, stretches of beach, lakes, mountain scenery and indigenous fynbos all merge to form a strip of land like no other in the world in terms of beauty, natural attractions and unique flora and fauna.
Mossel Bay
Head off to Mossel Bay, on the western border of the Garden Route, to dive with Great White sharks!​

Nearby Sedgefield offers the very popular Wild Oats Community Farmers’ Market.​
Oudtshoorn

Visit the Cango Caves in Oudtshoorn, an historic inland town at the eastern end of Route 62. Visit the crocodile farm or one of the ostrich farms. Venue of the annual 36ONE Mountain Bike Challenge.

Route 62
One of the longest wine routes in the world. This historic inland route passes through the Cape Winelands and Klein Karoo, and is the scenic alternative to the N2 highway to Cape Town.
